City of Sculpture Self-guided Tours @ Historic City Hall

Come to Waupun to see one of the highest concentrations of public art per capita in the United States, thanks to one remarkable pioneer (Clarence Shaler) and the rich cultural inheritance left behind.  The City of Sculpture proudly displays this timeless legacy for your viewing pleasure with eight beautiful sculptures placed within historic downtown and the surrounding area.

Take a self-guided tour and enjoy the beauty in Waupun and all around the Lake Winnebago Region.  See names of sculptures and locations below:

  1. Dawn of Day (In front of Historic City Hall, 201 E. Main Street)
  2. The End of the Trail (Shaler Park, 400 N. Madison Street)
  3. The Citadel (In front of Waupun Heritage Museum, 22 S. Madison Street)
  4. Recording Angel (Central part of Forest Mound Cemetery on N. Madison Street)
  5. Who Sows Believes in God (Waupun Memorial Hospital, 620 W. Brown Street)
  6. The Pioneers (Wilcox Park, 404 S. Watertown Street)
  7. Doe & Fawn (Rock River Country Club Entrance, 700 County Park Road)
  8. Morning of Life (Union Cemetery, 1/2 mile west of Hwy Q and X intersection – 10 miles northwest of Waupun)

Downtown Art Scavenger Hunt @ Downtown Fond du Lac

Check out the Downtown Fond du Lac Utility Box Art!  Scroll to the bottom of the page to print the Hint List (list of clues) at home or pick up a copy at any of the following locations, Tuesday – Friday, May 28th – 31st during normal business hours:

 Join the scavenger hunt and see if you can find all 15 utility box art installations throughout Downtown Fond du Lac.  Get together with your family and friends to figure out the riddles to find the next one!  If you’re having trouble, check out the webpage, here.    

Return your completed entry form to the Art All Around Submission Box inside the Espresso Cafe, located inside the historic Hotel Retlaw by Monday, June 10th for your chance to win a Downtown Fond du Lac gift certificate.  Five winners will be randomly chosen the week of Monday, June 10th.

Learn art from Local Artist : Mel Kolstad @ Children's Museum of Fond du Lac
May 31 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Get inspired by local artists as they guide your family through the creative process to create beautiful works of art in our very own Wagener’s Workshop!

Class will feature Mel Kolstad every Friday between 10am and 12pm, May 10th – June 21st; and will feature Stephanie LH Harvey every Friday, July 19th – August 23rd.

As always, we are looking for art supply and recycled material donations… Marv the Maker Monster is hungry, and waiting in the lobby to chow down on donations!

Plein Air Watercolor Painting Class @ Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts
May 31 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Learn the basics of painting with watercolor while enjoying the outdoors outside on THELMA’s Plaza. This engaging class focuses on exploring color and various painting techniques to create images that capture light, shadow and natural form. Develop your ability to see while working and experience the joy of watching your paintings come to life.

The class is open to students of all artistic levels.  THELMA Members – $16, THELMA TVA Members – $15, Nonmembers – $20

 

Busker Night @ Fond du Lac's Downtown District

Busker Night is open to all musicians who would like to offer their musical talents to play in our beautiful downtown district.  Creating an ambiance like no other, downtown Fond du Lac is transformed into a gathering place for art-enthusiasts and those yearning to enjoy the first taste of summer. Coinciding with Gallery Night, buskers are encouraged to set-up at any of the participating galleries for a one-of-a-kind artistic experience.  Feel free to reach out to the locations below participating in Gallery Night to reserve your spot!

Downtown Fond du Lac’s Gallery Night is open to the public and is a fun and free way to explore the arts in Fond du Lac. Each gallery offers a unique art experience with changing exhibits featuring local and regional artists, artist talks, demonstrations, hands-on projects, music and more.

Walk through our beautiful Downtown and support the local economy with one-of-a-kind gifts of art. Start your own art collection or add to your existing collection while enjoying all the activities during this special evening.

Art of the Cocktail @ Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts

Plan your party drink specials, or just enjoy an evening with friends at this premier event for the novice or experienced fan of the cocktail!

Must be at least 21 to attend. Enjoy interactive workshops and you will be guided through crafting different cocktails. Free to attend. Drinks available for purchase.
